Spotify
Leverage the Power of Spotify to Grow Your Brand
Launched in 2008, Spotify has become one of the most popular
digital music streaming services. It’s so popular, in fact, that it’s outranked
Apple Music, the once go-to source for music downloads. But what is Spotify,
exactly, what does it have to offer, and is it worth investing in? Read on for
answers to these questions and to find out how you can leverage the power of
Spotify to grow your brand.
What is Spotify?
As mentioned, Spotify is a digital music streaming platform.
It provides users with direct access to an enormous collection of music and
podcasts; currently, there are more than 50 million songs and 700,000 podcast
titles, and the list continues to grow. Users can easily –and legally – access
any of the content they choose, at any time. Virtually every genre of music can
be found on the site, from top pop hits to classic rock, and from country to
indie folk; you can even find show tunes, movie soundtracks, and Broadway hits.
The platform is outfitted with an algorithm that recommends music and podcasts
based on users’ listening history, and it features curated playlists and radio
stations, too. As for podcasts, the options are virtually limitless, so whether
you want to keep up with the latest news, political events, history, or even
true crime stories, you’ll be able to find something that will pique your
interest.
How does It Work?
Using Spotify is a cinch. All you have to do is head to
their site or download their app and create an account, and then choose a
subscription level. You can opt for the free tier to, which gives you access to
millions of songs and podcasts (with the exception of some releases for up to
two weeks), and you can stream on your smartphone, PC, Smart TV, PS3 and PS4,
Apply Carplay, and Android devices. While you won’t have to pay a subscription,
the tradeoff is that you’ll have to listen to ads on a regular basis; plus,
you’ll only be able to skip six times per hour and won’t have access to curated
playlists or radio stations. Perhaps the biggest downside of the free tier is
that you won’t be able to select certain songs when you’re streaming on your
mobile devices, as you can only shuffle play; moreover, you can only listen
when you’re online and the audio quality is a bit lower.
For a better experience, opt for one of the Premium tiers.
While you will have to pay a subscription fee of $9.99/month, for that price,
streaming is ad-free, you can choose any song or podcast, and you can download
tracks even when you’re offline. Add to that the fact that you can skip as many
times as you’d like, you’ll have complete access to curated playlists that are
made specifically for you, and the audio quality is a lot better.
How Spotify Can Help
Boost Awareness of Your Brand
